Information We Collect

We collect minimal information: The Blurr extension is designed with privacy at its core, and we collect very limited information about you and your browsing activities.

Extension Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage metrics such as the frequency of extension activation, features used, and general performance data. This information does not identify individual users and is used solely to improve the functionality of our Extension.

Technical Information: We automatically collect certain technical information including browser type, browser version, and operating system. This information helps us ensure compatibility and optimize performance.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our Extension
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
• Monitor usage patterns to enhance user experience
• Develop new features based on user engagement

What We Don’t Collect

Webpage Content: We do not capture, store, or transmit the content of the webpages you visit or the specific elements you choose to blur. All blurring operations occur locally within your browser.

Personal Information: We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name or location unless you explicitly provide it to us, such as when you contact support, sign in with Google to unlock Pro, or complete a payment through Stripe.

Browsing History: We do not track which websites you visit.

Data Storage and Security

Any blur settings you save are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the security of any information we process. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party Services

Our Extension does not include third-party analytics tools or advertising services. We do not share your information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect and defend our rights and property
• To prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Extension

Chrome API Usage

Our Extension uses Chrome Extension APIs to provide its functionality. Specifically, we use:

• Storage API: To save your blur settings locally
• Tabs API: To apply blurring to the current tab when activated
• Scripting API: To inject our blurring functionality into websites

These permissions are used solely for the purpose of providing the Extension’s core functionality and not for tracking or data collection purposes.

Website and Waitlist

The blurr.ing website itself contains no analytics tools, advertising services, or third-party trackers. If you join the launch waitlist, we store the email address you submit, together with the page it was submitted from, your country (derived from the request by our hosting provider), your browser’s user-agent string, and a timestamp, in a database hosted by Cloudflare.

We use this information solely to email you about the Blurr launch and early access, and to understand where signups come from. We never sell or share the waitlist, and you can have your email removed at any time by writing to [email protected].

Your Choices and Control

You can control and delete any saved blur settings directly from the Extension interface. You may also uninstall the Extension at any time, which will remove all locally stored data associated with Blurr.

Children’s Privacy

Our Extension is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can delete such information.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
