Quick answer
To annotate a screenshot, paste it into the tool above, pick an arrow, box, text or numbered step, draw, and press Copy image. The annotated copy goes to your clipboard ready to paste into Slack, Jira or an email, or you can download it as PNG, JPEG or WebP. The screenshot is edited in your browser and never uploaded, so it is fine for internal tools.
Before you capture
Hide private details before you mark it up
Bug report screenshots tend to carry a customer's name, an email or an internal URL. Blurr.ing blurs any part of the live web page in Chrome before you press the screenshot key, so the capture never contains it in the first place. Drawing blurs is free and unlimited, and the extension's own capture shortcut can blur more areas on the image afterwards. Then bring the clean screenshot here for the arrows.
- Draw a box, select text or click an element. Free and unlimited.
- Screenshots come out with the blurs already in the picture. 5 free, unlimited on Premium.
- Auto Blur, Blur Text and Tab Privacy hide things for you on every page. Try each one free.
Free to install, for Chrome on a computer.

The toolbar
Arrows, boxes, text and highlights
Everything stays editable until you export: select any annotation to move it, recolour it or delete it.
Arrows
Point at the button, the error or the field. Hold Shift to snap to straight angles.
Boxes and circles
Frame a region with a rectangle or ring it with an ellipse. Shift keeps them square or round.
Text
Click to type a label or a note. A contrasting outline keeps it readable on any background.
Highlighter
A translucent marker that tints text without hiding it, the way a real highlighter does.
Numbered steps
Click to drop 1, 2, 3 in order, one badge per step.
Hide
Cover an email or a card number with a solid box or pixelation before you share.
Paste, annotate, copy
From screenshot to ticket in under a minute
Paste the screenshot, mark it up and copy it out. Nothing is uploaded.
Bug reports
Circle the broken element, add an arrow and a one-line note, copy, paste into the ticket.
Docs and how-tos
Numbered steps over a settings screen read faster than a paragraph describing where to click.
Quick replies
Answer "where is that setting?" in Slack or email with a marked-up screenshot instead of a description.
